I know that I am unable to use a Roma Pass on the FR1 train to the airport. But am I able to use it for the FR1 train from Termini to Trastevere station or vice versa? Is that station at Trastevere manned or must I use a machine to purchase tickets to the airport? Thank you for helping me once again.
Quirite, I don't know what you mean about the Trastevere station not being manned. I bought tickets from a human being at the ticket window there just this past May.
The catch at the Trastevere station is that the ticket window might not be open early enough on your travel day if you have to catch a morning flight at FCO. I bought my tickets a few days in advance. (But remember you can buy those tickets at any train station, including Termini.)
I bought them at the Trastevere station because it was on my way to check out the Via Marconi shopping district (where I had been told only the "romani romani" shop.)
Thank you so much Quirite and Michael for your replies! I want to make sure that I understand this perfectly.
To get to the "Trastevere" station from The Ministry of Public Education on Viale Trastevere (near where I am staying), I take the tram 8 (or is it bus H?)to the station? On my last day there, I will have to purchase tickets for FR1 from Trenitalia to go to the airport from that station. During the week, I can use my Roma Pass to go back and forth from Termini to Trastevere on the FR5? I will probably mostly take the bus (except for the first trip from Termini when I will have my luggage.) Am I correct? Thanks again for your advice!
Boy, are you in luck. RonInRome covers Tram 8 and also how to do the FR1, complete with photos that demystify the whole process for you.
Here's the one for Tram 8.
And here's the one for FR1 to the airport.
As for the easiest way to get from your hotel to Termini during the week, the H bus takes you back and forth, with a bus about every 15 minutes. It can get crowded during rush hour, but that's true of all public transportation, isn't it? I sure wouldn't take the FR5 as you would have to travel away from Termini and then do a big loop around Rome on the train. Look at a map to see what I mean.

Your Roma pass is only good for the same three contiguous days from first validation that you are able to use it on the sights. It is only valid for the day that it is first used for either transport or a sight, to midnight that day, all the next day, and all the third day until midnight.
It cannot be used as a weekly bus or train pass.
