Interesting, I wasn't aware of the RS book Rick Steves Italy for Food Lovers but I will have to check it out.

I utilized Fred Plotkin’s tome on eating in Italy before our first trip there 20 years ago. Comprehensive and fascinating. Rick chose his writing partner well.

In my view, his guides have always had a decent summary of local foods and restaurants serving local dishes. Italy seems like the logical choice for a book like this, especially for his North American audience, can't think of a country that would make as much an impact.

I'm curios: have you seen it? Do you have a list of the chapters? I read that Piedmont is not present and knowing how low is the feeling between Mr. Steves and Emilia-Romagna is possible even this region is missing too.

Ricky, if you get on Amazon you can “open” the book and view the table of contents and even read a bit. It looks like he is covering a lot if not all the regions.

Looking at it on Amazon, it does include Piedmonte and Emilia-Romagna, plus all other regions. I suspect that it is more info from Fred than Rick. Looks pretty interesting.
