I see on the website that Rick Steves offers complete tour packages with hotels, transportation from start to finnish. Does Rick Steves offer day tours or affilated with a reputable company within italy that does offer day tours to the hotspots within Rome and Venice? I'm doing a Viking Cruise in November and taking 3 days prior to boarding the ship some sightseeing. I want to deal with a reputable company, like Rick Steves for some day trips.
He used to have some kind of affiliation with Mondo Tours. Give them a look.
You might check his Italy guidebook. He usually mentions private local guides in different cities. But as you can see on this website, the company does not do single day tours.
This is their general, public exchange board. No one here or any response reflects his company policies. You should contact his office directly. From experience most of us know that he does not offer one or two day private tours. His guidebooks do id some of the private guides that he uses in various cities.
Hi and welcome to the forums!
Just a ditto regarding day tours: Rick doesn't offer them but browse suggestions to prior, similar questions in the forums:

This is a little confusing? You say you are taking 3 days prior to boarding a Viking Cruise (where?) and are looking for day tours of Rome and Venice. These two cities are some distance apart, and the day you arrive in Italy could be a jet-lagged fog. Would you be willing to share your complete itinerary up to the point you board your ship? I guess it's unclear how much time you really have for sightseeing.
