I have added the Rick Steve's audio europe 2013, and added many tracks to the playlist. I have even listened to a few. Then they go back in and they are gone. I have to re download to my cell phone. This has happened 3 times. Just curious if anyone else has had this issue and any way to help! I don't want to download when I am there as I don't want to get charged for international data.
stacey, I have several RS audio files on my iPhone (and before that my iPod Touch), but have never experienced the problem you've described. What kind of Smartphone are you using? I just checked and all my files are still there. I'm not sure what to suggest? Good luck!
thanks..I have an iphone 4s. I am also downloading them now to my traveling companion and will see if they stay on. we fly out on thursday..so I will be testing it out over the next few days.
Thanks for letting me know.
stacey, I also use an iPhone 4S, so the problems you're experiencing are quite puzzling. I've even done an OS upgrade since obtaining the RS Audio app, and the files weren't affected at all. A few more questions..... > Are you syncing to your iTunes account via a MAC or a PC? > Are you storing files in the Cloud? > How long do the files remain on the phone before they disappear? > Have you checked the sync parameters in iTunes?
stacey, Syncing your iPhone is a good way to backup all your files, even if you don't use music. You can set the parameters on what you want to sync using the menus in iTunes. I find that syncing once a day is also a good opportunity to recharge the phone when I'm checking my E-mail or using the HelpLine.
To play it safe, you can download the tracks direct to ur computer from the rs site, then transfer them to ur phone
Good Morning guys... I don't really ever sync my phone as I am not a music person....I just download them and I did have to reset once...so Maybe that was it...but all my other apps were still there. I am redownloading. I will also make sure they are on my computer. I believe I did that a while back and then I think you are saying if I do resync then they should come down again from itunes right?? By the way...what would happen if you had more downloaded on your phone and then did a sync. They should all stay on their right...meaning the sync won't delete any that are on the phone as long as the settings in Itunes is correct. Also does anyone know fi there is a heart of Rome Walk audio and Dolce Vita Stroll..these were in the Italy 2013 book, and he mentions you can get them in Itunes, but I can't find them as audio. Thanks.
THanks Ken. I guess I just do it from the icloud. BUt I am downloading the rick steve that I want to my mac air too! Since it is taking all day to download on my phone. on the phone I have the app. On the computer I am downloading the podcasts. I noticed that there are different ones. Rick steve's audio europe - Maroon color and Rick steve's audio tour --- which is blue. I am guessing they are the same..meaning if there is one with the same name like Pantheon they are the same.
stacey, I don't use that goofy Cloud, as I don't like the idea of my files being off in cyberspace somewhere, and I also have privacy concerns. In addition, if files are updated using cellular data while travelling, the cost for data roaming is going to be HUGE! I'm not entirely sure, but the RS Audio Europe (red) app seems to cover both audio tours as well as Guide interviews and other files. The blue version just seems to have the tours. I'm not entirely sure why there are two different versions?
