Rick Steve's tours

Have never taken a tour but am considering the Venice, Florence and Rome in 10 days. Has anyone taken this tour? Have read a lot about it but would like to hear from someone who has actually been on one.

I have not taken this tour, but I have been in a few tours with different companies. Also I have been in RS tour in Spain.
IMO RS tours is the best in services. The RS tours guides are the best in the business. Go for it!

Have you read the tour reviews for your tour? They are submitted by tour members about a weeks after they had their tour. They may help persuade you to take your chosen tour.
I have not taken this tour, but have taken other RS Tours, all of which were superb. I have taken the 21 day, Best of Europe, which goes to VFR. Some highlights: in Venice we took a gondola ride, went to a glass blowing demonstration, in Florence, we went to the Uffizi and the Accademia and in Rome, we went to the Vatican Museum, the Colsseum, and the Forum. I have visited some sites on my own, but got much more information while on RS tour. He hires local guides and they are top notch, especially the local Rome guide. The other poster is correct, the guides are terrific, I haven't had a bad one. Don't forget, you need to be physically active and able to carry your own suitcase(carry on size required).

I've been on the Best of Italy and Village Italy tours, and have traveled extensively on my own and in tour groups. RS tours have the best guides by far. I would absolutely recommend the tours without hesitation. Read the tour feedback on the Tours page. It will give you all the info you need to make a decision. That said, you do need to be in decent shape, able to walk and keep up with a group, and able and willing to carry/roll your own bag.

I took the VFR tour last year. It is fast-paced and you see alot. I have been on 5 RS tours and would say I loved 3 of the tour guides and was neutral on the other 2. The local guides have always been fabulous. My favorite RS tours so far were Sicily and the Village Tour of Italy, but the VFR was very good. Also time of year is very important. If you can avoid mid June to mid Sept you will probably have a better time: unless you love crowds and hot, hot, hot weather.
