Rick's Suggested One day in Florence

Has anyone followed Rick's suggested one brutal day in Florence plan? We would be arriving from Rome via train in the morning and staying until dark. I am a bit confused if several of these areas are included in the Renaissance walk? I am not seeing Mercato Centrale or Lorenzo Market along the map but it doesn't make sense we would suggest going to Ponte Vecchio on the walk and then back tracking to Bargello or the duomo museum.

Florence in One Brutal Day
8:30 Accademia (David) — with a reservation.
10:00 Follow my Renaissance Walk through town center.
12:00 Bargello (best statues) or Duomo Museum (great bronze work).
13:30 Grab a quick lunch in or near Mercato Centrale.
14:00 Shopping at San Lorenzo Market (or elsewhere).
16:30 Uffizi Gallery (finest paintings) — with a reservation.
19:30 Cross Ponte Vecchio and take the Oltrarno Walk (best local color) and have dinner across the river at 21:00.

We leave in less than 2 weeks and I am incredibly overwhelmed! Would I be crazy to purchase a Firenze card just to skip the lines and avoid having to watch the clock? I fully understand that I can save money by booking a reservation- but I fear my time would be ruined by trying to stay on a deadline all day.

I suspect Rick's one-day Florence itinerary is designed for people spending 1 full day and at least 1 night in Florence. If you plan to arrive in the morning and depart at dark in late September, imo you'll be hard-pressed to complete the entire itinerary in that timeframe. If you don't already have reservations for the Accademia and Uffizi, there's no guarantee reserved tickets are still available for the times you'd need. Buying the expensive Firenze Card may be your only option to see both those museums without waiting in long lines. The one bit of good news is that central Florence is quite compact. The Central Market is only about a 7 minute walk from the Duomo area, and the Bargello and Duomo Museum are about a 7 minute and 10 minute walk respectively from the Ponte Vecchio.
