Rick's Recommended Cicchetti Tour in Venice - Outstanding!

We took Rick's advice and booked a Cicchetti tour with the wonderful, hilarious, irrepressible Allesandro Schezzini. I will say, it was less an in-depth food tour and more a one-man show highlighting his love of Italy and her traditions. We ate wonderful examples of cicchetti at three different restaurants, and he was sensitive to any food challenges someone might have. He very hilariously points out his love of Italy by saying things like, "In your terrible country, you take "Lunch breaks" - what, for 30 minutes? That is not a break." He says it all in good fun but in doing so, he shows you his love of the Italian way of life. He loves food and wine and enjoyed sharing it with us. It was a wonderful couple hours very well spent.

I took my 18 year old nephew on the tour in 2022 and we both loved it too! Allesandro was very attentive about getting him non-alcoholic drinks at each stop. Like you, we loved his sense of humor, great stories, and love for Veneto!

Interesting take on a tour we took two years ago. I couldn’t disagree more - we found Alessandro obnoxious and self-absorbed. His disdain for Americans was not “in good fun” imo, and I am not a flag waver by any means. His “tour” was attenuated and it was clear that he couldn’t wait to end it. I even wrote to RS afterwards to suggest he delete this recommendation.
We have been to Italy probably ten times and have taken numerous food tours around the world. This is not one I’d recommend.

Well I'm on Team Alessandro. We did this tour in 2019 and very much enjoyed him, the food, the wine, and his love for Venice. We still talk about that tour often. I'm glad to hear he still does them.

Team Alessandro here as well. Took his tour in 2014- loved it. I am just happy to see he is still giving tours!
