Cioa , any suggestions on how to return a rental car to Florence airport, then we are planning on traveling by train to rome, Grazia , Hank

I dropped off a rental car at Florence airport a few years ago. Return process was easy and the walk to the terminal was fairly short. From the terminal, I took the Volainbus (6 euro per ticket) into town. Taxi is another option (about 20 euro, I believe), and the new tram line to the train station area may be operating as early as June. I haven't yet seen the price for the tram ride from the airport, but unless there's a special rate it would be 1.20 euro per ticket (or 1.50 euro per ticket after this summer's price increase).

Due to tram works, the rental area has been moved on the other side of the main highway, so you will have to ride a shuttle bus to the airport building. The tram line should be opened in late August but I believe end of this year being a more believable time.
