I am staying in Siena for 2 weeks and I see a return flight for the Saturday after my stay leaving Rome at 3:15 pm. I could catch a 7:30 am bus from Siena to Rome to be there for just after 12, and then get the train to the airport. From experience, do you think it is wise to travel from Siena to Rome on the day of my flight, or should I book the return flight for Sunday and stay overnight in hotel in Rome? Thanks!

I would stay overnight in Rome. - what if the bus is late or breaks down? - what if there's too much traffic?
- what if......... It would be less stressful.

And you are cutting your time very close. You may get to Rome at noon but you are still an hour from the airport via train when you add in time waiting for train, riding, walking, etc. That puts you in the airport at 1 pm or later and less than the 3 hour window for an international flight. It would not take much of a delay for you to miss your flight.
