Rethinking restaurant choice in CT for anniv dinner

We will be in CT the second week of September, and will celebrate our 40th anniversary while there. We have reservations at Ristorante Belforte at 1930....just in time for sunset and no view, right?! Is the foid THAT good, or should we have lunch there another day and stay in Montrosso for anniv dinner? Recommendations?
Thanks!

You might be okay-Sunset 19:44, civil twilight 20:14, nautical twilight 20:49, and dark at 21:25.

Of course I had to look up the definition of twilight-it sounds pretty good to me, and much earlier you might have the sun blasting in your face, but that's just me. I've not eaten there, but always read good things about it.

the soft glowing light from the sky when the sun is below the horizon, caused by the refraction and scattering of the sun's rays from the atmosphere.

I did the same last september. I setup a reservation also at 19:30 for sunset and we had an outside patio table. Did they tell you if you were inside or outside patio table?

The food is my favorite restaurant in the CT

Robert-thank you for your input. We requested "sea view" table, but there was no mention of it in the confirmation email.....

While Dave's description does sound lovely if you want to see the Sunset you want to see the Sunset not well after it, sure some days light is better 15 minutes after sunset but you are taking well past 15 minutes.
With your reservation time I expect it will past blue hour and dark when you are done eating.

Guess it depends if this your only evening in CT and how much you value watching the sunset there.
If you are there multiple days it is not a big deal if you miss the sunset that night and who knows what the weather will be like.
If you only night and seeing the sunset is of high priority for you ; I would probably book somewhere that has outside seating with a view if this place does not OR change your reservation time to 8:30 PM instead if you can which would allow you to both watch the sunset and eat where you want without stressing over which table you get!

Mreynolds, we are not that concerned about seeing the sunset-we just realized it may be dark soon after we sit down for dinner, and the sea view and ambiance will be gone...we will have 2 additional nights to sit at the beach and watch the sunset. This restaurant has wonderful reviews, so I think we will keep our plans, and celebrate! 😍

Aloha,

Ristorante Belforte is fantastic. When we were there it was chilly outside and so we went inside - near the fireplace and were transported into such a lovely dining area. We had a lovely view - even in the dark of the ocean and night sky through a pathway. It was one of our best meals of our Italy trip.
Another place for outstanding meals is Il Pirata up the hill in Varenna by the laundromat. Have the seafood salad - Wow! Breakfast pastries and morning coffee outstanding. I loved the brothers who own it. A find! We sat next to a couple who also live on Maui - one morning for breakfast. Imagine our surprise!
