Restorations for Trevi Fountain

I am planning on taking a trip to Rome in June and know that restorations for the Trevi Fountain have been going on for a little over a year. To my understanding, the restorations shouldn't be completed until Fall 2015..

For anyone that has traveled to Rome recently - how is construction site looking? Was anyone still able to 'throw a coin' in the fountain or is security pretty strict on that policy.

It's still drained so you can't throw coins into it.

As far as I know you cannot throw coins in the fountain while it's under restoration. They have set up a little pool nearby that you can toss your coins into. The 'magic' should work just as well that way. :-)
