Restaurants & nearby lodging in Chiusi

Looks like our 50th Anniversary trip is going to become a reality. We leave in three weeks. However, my husband has decided he does not want to stay in the agriturismo I chose, because he wants lodging near some good restaurants. We are picking up our rental car in Chiusi so that looks like a good home base. Do any of you have recommendations for good lodging within walking distance of excellent restaurants in Chiusi? Oh, did I mention he has to find it easy to navigate into Chiusi from the rental agency at the train station? :)

You might consider staying in Montepulciano, which has plenty of good restaurants, instead of in Chiusi. It's about a 30 minute drive from Chiusi and makes a good home base for exploring the area. I did have one simple pizza lunch in Chiusi, but I don't recall there being a lot of good restaurants from which to pick.

I agree with Frank.. Montepulciano would be my choice of home base. We picked up our car mid afternoon in Chiusi, but Hertz was on break, so we had to find a place to eat. Most everything was closed except 1 place about a block or two from Hertz. Food was good, but Chiusi doesn't seem like a very happening place. Montepulciano, on the other hand, was great!!!
