We will be staying at Hotel Quirinale (Via Nazionale, 7 Rome) for 3 nights in May. Would love some recommendations for nearby restaurants. We have busy days planned, so would like low key walkable places with an authentic feel. Thanks so much in advance.
Ok, you are going to think this is nuts but China Garden on Via Firenze is just about 2 blocks from your hotel. I was on a Best of Italy tour in 2022 with several tour members who were Asian. They raved about the food. I went the next night and enjoyed it a lot!
This may not fit your criteria for “authentic“ but it was authentic Asian-Italian, lol.
I am so glad you asked...
Wife and I stayed at Hotel Quirinale for a couple of weeks. Our favorite place to eat was Caffe Toraldo by Piazza del Viminale. We found it walking from the hotel to Santa Prassede and Santa Maria Maggiore. We ended up eating there about every other evening. I loved the cacio e pepe and margherita pizza. Wife enjoyed to fettucine ragu. Staff was wonderful.
It is a neighborhood spot, felt very authentic to us. They also do breakfast, coffee, pastries - but we only stopped by for lunch or dinner. We found the breakfast at Hotel Quirinale to be excellent.
There is a gelateria next to Hotel Quirinale that we enjoyed. And don't tell anyone, but we did eat at the McDonald's across the street a couple of times (convenient when returning to the hotel late...).
I hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did.
