We're going to stop in Venice for a few days before starting the RS Village Italy tour in Padua. Any restaurant recommendations in Venice and on Murano and Burano? Thanks.
Sure
Da Mamo's: http://www.damamo.it/en/ great branzino, great pizza
Harry' Bar: Hemmingway hangout, expensive, once in a lifetime to say you had a Bellini at Harry Cipriani's bar
Taverna San Trovaso: http://www.tavernasantrovaso.it/
Al Timon: Cannaregio favorite, Trip Advisor reviews: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187870-d1069463-Reviews-Al_Timon-Venice_Veneto.html
Osteria Alla Ciurma : Trip Advisor reviews: https://www.google.com/search?q=Osteria+Alla+Ciurm&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 in San Polo
Trattoria da Roma in Burano was quite good for lunch.
Venice- in Canareggio district- all excellent : l' Anice Stellato, Vini da Gigio, Osteria da Alberto, Fiaschetteria Toscano. We have had many meals at these restaurants, can't go weong with any of them.
I think Suki might mean Trattoria da Romano. We had lunch there on our visit to Burano in May. It's famous for its risotto thanks to Anthony Bourdain. It was a bit of a splurge, but the risotto was terrific.
I have three all time favorite restaurants in Venice that I always go to.... First is CoVino, small, fun, slow-food (farm to table) is where I go most of the time. Serving lunch or dinner (two seatings) it is always best to reserve ahead. New takes on Venice traditional dishes.... love this place!!! http://www.covinovenezia.com/
Osteria Oliva Nera is near by CoVino and is more traditional. It is family owned and operated and Isa makes the worlds best lasagna. She also has a couple of apartment for rent. http://www.olivanera.com/en/restaurant-in-venice/
Local is a more modern and upscale place.... Owned by a brother/sister combo they have a great place to grab lunch or dinner!!! Great wines and food. http://www.ristorantelocal.com/
On Murano, Resturant B is great.... They have a nice courtyard in front of the place where you can eat outside or sit inside if it is going to rain. just off the main drag for shopping.
Burano has a couple of Michelin rated places if you are looking for something a little nicer. One is called the il Gato Nero (the black cat) http://www.gattonero.com/en/index.html#.WXAlMIjys2w The other is the Riva Rosa.... https://www.rivarosa.it/
Stumbled on this place our last night in Venice - and we will def be returning when we get back...they are actually ranked 41 out of 1200+ restaurants in Venice on TA. And the prices were very moderate - at least when we were there, tho we didn't partake in any wine. It could be a little tricky to find...
We've been to Venice many times but this most recent visit in June we went here:

It was excellent - both food and service. The servers were exceptional. Will definitely go back there.
I'd definitely recommend Al Chianti near San Marco. (S. Marco, 655, 30124 Venezia VA, Italy)
Have been there many times and it's always excellent!
Try La Bitta in the Dorsoduro. No fish on menu. Had an awesome meal there last month. For pizza Al Profeta also in th Dorsoduro. Make reservations at both. Great food and wine at both.
Obviously there are some very good places. There are a MULTITUDE of restaurants in Venice so filtering out the mediocre ones and targeting the good ones is a good thing to do.
As always - look for a restaurant that's crowded with locals, and you'll usually find a good one.
I'm with you, BobMilano. We had an excellent meal at CoVino on our last trip to Venezia. We also ate at Gato Nero and had the best seafood risotto ever! Highly reccomend both!
