Anyone have a recommendation for restaurants in or near this area?
A popular and inexpensive restaurant in Trastevere is Carlo Menta. It is located along Via della Lungaretta at Via di San Gallicano. Another place that is very popular with locals is Enzo, located at the intersection of Via dei Salumi and Via dei Vascellari. It is a very small place and reservations are required. People stand in the street waiting for tables to open up.
We've eaten at Trattoria da Lucia on two different trips and really liked the food and atmosphere. Good basic pasta dishes.
After dinner be sure to check out the gelato shop there In Trastevere. Its the best in Rome in my opinion. Their cinnamon flavor is amazing!!!!!!!
For a little finer dining meal, but not outrageously expensive, I would recommend La Scala ( http://www.ristorantelascala.it/ ) located on the same Piazza as the Gelato place mentioned. For a nice local place, good pizza and Roman dishes; we like Popi Popi ( http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=popi+popi+restaurant+rome&fb=1&gl=us&hq=popi+popi+restaurant&hnear=Rome,+Italy&cid=4672312878439050596 ) For maybe the best pizza in Rome and an Unbelievable dessert calzone, it has to be Dar Poeta ( http://www.darpoeta.com/ ) Aside from all that, there are any number of interesting places found by just wandering and looking, maybe taking a chance.
I have been to Da Lucia which was great, and also Il Fate, where I took a cooking class and ate as well-also amazing!
