Anyone have recommendations for restaurants frequented more by locals than by tourists? Interested in Siracusa and nearby smaller towns. Not looking for anything fancy, just something good. Grazie.

This place has by far THE BEST sandwiches (the freshest, the best value, made with pure love and care) I've ever had. Yes, there will be tourists but don't let that stop you from trying it out - it's more than worth it. I still dream about those sandwiches almost a year later!

For non-touristy (at least when I went last year there weren't any), try Mama Iabica (http://www.mammaiabica.com/#_=_) The entire menu is in Italian and we had to communicate with the waitress in Italian. Basically, if you want non-touristy, then go across the bridge and away from Ortygia (where most tourists stay) into the "new" town, which definitely has much more of a local vibe. It's a very quick walk.
