Restaurants in Rome (Staying in Trastevere) - Need Recommendations!!

My Fiance and I are going to Rome for our Honeymoon in late May - 4 nights, staying in Trastevere right near the pedestrian bridge. One thing I REFUSE to do in Rome is to get ripped off and eat like a tourist does - We are looking forward to the cuisine in Italy and want to make sure we maximize our pleasure in this aspect. That said, where are some GREAT restaurants (authenticity is a plus) to eat in Rome - We are staying in Trastevere, but open to travel around Rome for the right meal.

Thanks! A lot of recommendations would be appreciated!

Hostaria Da Settimio
81 Via Val Tellina
Rome
Monteverde district, less than 10 minutes from Trastevere with the tram no. 8 or even less via taxi.
No English spoken, zero.
No menu in writing. Just a long list of ever changing dishes spewed by the lady in Roman dialect.
Great Roman traditional fare.
No tourists whatsoever, only locals, mostly from the neighborhood.
You asked for local, no tourists, now deal with it. I count that you speak some Italian.

Roberto - thanks, I do not speak italian but I am sure I can manage.

Also, we're going to be in Rome so I anticipate Tourists - that's not what I'm saying, I dont mind having dinner next to other tourists, I just dont want "Tourist Traps"

Thanks

Hi,

Try the "Tavernetta Umbra" , Giulio Cesare Street, ten minutes walk from the Vatican. We stopped there by accident: great local food, not pricy and....we were the only tourists!! It seemed like only residents and employees of the area go there!

Dar Poeta for pizza in Trastevere, or take a ride on the Tram #8 to La Gatta Mangiona also famous for pizza. The latter absolutely requires a reservation. A lot of restaurants in Trastevere have become the dreaded T-Traps, I am sorry to say: More popular with tourists than locals.

For an adventure, travel to La Fraschetta del Pesce, out near Tiburtina. We are always the only English-speakers there. Fresh fish from Anzio, delicious, great prices. It can be done on public transportation but really cabs are a reasonable alternative.

Near Villa Borghese, L'isola d'Oro is a fine Sardegnian place (fish fish fish). Be sure to order the mixed antipasto, but get one for two people as it is huge!

Actor James Purefoy is on Rachael Ray today and he likes Ristorante Santa Lucia, Largo Febo 12, near Piazza Navona. He lived more than two years in Roma and this was the only ristorante he talked about.

We really enjoyed our dinner here

Our Italian friend had recommended it - come to find out later I think it is in Rick's book.

Had a great time and loved the pasta all'amatriciana (spelling may be off!)

There are quite a few excellent restaurants in Campo de Fiori. One of the ones we'd tried in September 2014 is outstanding. If you do wish to go, you must go early as the restaurant is very tiny (or make a reservation the day before). But the food is so worth it!

Cantina Lucifero, Via del Pellegrino 53. The restaurant has excellent ratings on Tripadvisor. The owner speaks 5 different languages and is very personable. One of the waitress, Metilda, is fluent in English and is excellent in recommending the top choices of food. Buon appetite!!
