What are some can’t miss restaurant recommendations in Padua??

Depends on what kind of place you enjoy, but in the nine nights we spent in Padua, our favorites were Osteria dal Capo and Osteria A Banda Del Buso.

We had excellent hamburgers at Soul Kitchen, possibly the only time we've eaten American food in Italy.

Our favorite gelato was at Gelateria Gnam Gnam in the Piazza dei Signori --- there are about five gelato places on this piazza. The caffe was especially good, with tiny bits of coffee beans in it.

Antica Osteria dal Capo is unforgettable. It's a small place so a reservation is advised. They offer some dishes that are different from many restaurants - some specialties of the Veneto and some with less common offerings like trippa and guancia. The base menu is here, but there will be additional dishes on any particular day: http://www.osteriadalcapo.it/menu.php

We ate in a restaurant called Gustoteca. It was a combined wine store, cooking equipment store, and restaurant. Very pleasant.

We also had lunch in Pedrocchi Cafe, which is quite well-known. We ate outside, but the inside has many rooms which are quite interesting. It was fun because, as is so common in Padova, many doctoral student parties were sitting there. Many of the new grads were US kids.
