restaurants - Cinque Terre & Siena

Hey all,

Leaving for trip to Italy on Thursday....

I need restaurant recommendations for:

  1. lunches and dinner for 2 1/2 days in Cinque Terre. My wife and I are staying at La Cabana in Monterosso. Need best recommendations from you all so i can hurry and try to make reservations before I leave US on Thursday.

  2. I know we'll be in Siena for at least one night - would love best dinner recommendations there too.

Thanks for the help!

In Monterosso I highly recommend Ciak. No reservation, just get there when they open to get a table. The BEST pesto we ever had, still talking about the Gnocchi Pesto, we sat outside and stayed there 3 hours talking with another couple from the States, memorable night. In Sienna I would think you would want to try the Bisteca, maybe look on Yelp for some good recommendations. Have Fun, very exciting.

Antica Osteria Da Divo in Siena. We had a fantastic meal there. Part of the restaurant is in an old wine cellar and the downstairs part of the restaurant is in what used to be an Etruscan tomb! The ambience was very nice, the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive. They book up fast so call ahead for a reservation. I literally called an hour ahead and happened to get a table for two right when they opened for dinner at 7:00.

Another vote for Da Divo. About 3 minute walk from the cathedral. Amazing food, wonderful staff. One of two best meals we had during 3 weeks in Italy this summer. Show your Rick Steves book for complementary desserts and choice of coffee (espresso) or liqueur.

There's a tiny trattoria just off Piazza Del Campo called La Torre. It's on the first little stree to the left of the tower. Very good food. The cacio e pepe was very good.

L'Osteria in Monterosso. The seafood pasta was the best meal I have ever had in my life. Also a couple of doors down there is a tiny pizzeria (I have tried to work out the name on google maps - Alas not ). Awesome spot for lunch.
