Restaurant suggestions for Florence and Lucca

We should be in Lucca and Florence next week. Any suggestions for restaurants? I like steak, wife likes pasta.

Also, do we usually need reservations?

It’s been a couple years but we ate at Tattoria Osteria Da Que’ Ganzi. Nit once, not twice, but three times

There is no shortage of restaurants and cafes in Lucca.

If you're looking for traditional Osteria style food we really enjoyed Osteria San Giorgio and their charming interior courtyard Via S. Giorgio, 26.
I heard good things about Osteria Dal Manzo Via Cesare Battisti, 28 but didn't get a chance to go.

In Florence we went to The Antico Ristoro di Cambi for what was recommended by several as the best Florentine steak. It was excellent. We booked online from their website, trying a few days before our arrival on a Thursday in March, the first opening I could get was the following Tuesday, that was for dinner, there might have been openings on Mon,Tues for lunch.
We also ate at Vini E Vecchi Sapori, a RS recommendation. We tried to go for lunch on a Friday, they had no openings. I called on Saturday (they're closed on Sundays) and was able to book for Monday lunch 12:30. You must call, they don't have a website. This was one of our favorite meals, the food was great but it was also just really fun to watch the crowd, the wait staff and the food prep. It's a very lively place.
Definitely make reservations for any place you can, before you leave. You'll be relieved you did.
