If you want to have a great local experience, hop in a taxi and go to La Fraschetta del Pesce. Worth the Euro 20 cab ride. The family fishes at Anzio and cooks it up at this Roman trattoria. Call for reservations a couple of days in advance. I think lunch on Sunday but not dinner.

Close to the hotel, try Osteria 44 or Vladimiro.

Seriously, La Fraschetta is something you won't forget. Tell Il Commandante that Signora Barton says "Ciao!" You'll save enough on dinner to pay for the taxis.
