Restaurant Recommendations in Rome and Trastevere

My husband and I are traveling to Rome from 11/22-11/25 and we're looking for restaurant recommendations for dinner. We'll be walking around and luckily my husband lived in Europe previously so he knows how to avoid "touristy" restaurants. We're staying at the Terrace Pantheon Relais,Via di Torre Argentina 18 00186 Roma RM Italy, right by the Pantheon. I'd like to have a couple of restaurants recommendations for dinner in Trastevere for the day we plan on spending the morning in Vatican City and the afternoon and evening in Trastevere. Any recommendations are appreciated!

Da Enzo in Trastevere looks like a hole in the wall, but I believe it's a stop on at least one of the food tours and is popular with off-duty chefs for Roman cuisine. Dinner reservations are definitely needed in late May; don't know about November, but a reservation would be smart. I was very lucky to snag a table as a walk-in at lunchtime.

Believe me when I say this is a very, very plain-looking place. If you're looking for a celebratory atmosphere, it's probably not the place for you. But on the other hand, you'll know you are in Italy.

Depends what you are looking for. Have spent a week at a time in the Trastevere several times, but it has been a couple years now:

Several good pizza places, Dar Poeta always was the best, they have gotten quite a bit of press, hope it has not changed.

For a bit of upscale, but not overly expensive, we liked Ristorante La Scala in Trastevere, on the piazza la Scala. Nice location, nice selection of dishes.

For just a neighborhood place serving good Roman food, pizza if you like, and pastas, Popi Popi was our "go-to" place. Casual, reasonably priced, runs from quiet to a good crowd with fun energy.

But like I said, it has been a couple years, things change, new places open. We had a couple other great experiences, but honestly, we just wandered, if we found a small place and the menu of the day looked good, we went for it. We always had a great meal at reasonable prices, almost felt we could not go wrong.
