Restaurant recommendations for Marsala, Trapani, Palermo and Cefalu

I would love some recommendations for value to moderately priced restaurants, and any "remarkable, don't miss" type splurge restaurants for Marsala, Trapani, Palermo and Cefalu.

In Cefalu, Tincite delivered one of the best sit down meals of my trip, with very good renditions of Sicilian classics. The pasta con sarde here changed my life. Antica Foccaceria was also very good, typical focaccia fare.

I had a lot of street fare in Palermo. While Vicciria and Bollaro markets are great experiences and worth doing, I would head down to Nni Franco U Vastiddaru where street food is “done right.” I had some uneven market street food. Particularly if you’re going to brave the more adventurous selections like pane con milsa (and you SHOULD!) then I recommend getting it from a reputable brick-and-mortar place like this.

A group of us had a wonderful meal at La Bettolaccia in Trapani.

In Palermo, Buatta Cucina Popolana on Via Vittorio Emmanuele as well as Cagliostro Ristorante a few doors away were both reasonably priced for excellent Sicilian dishes. In Trapani, don’t miss Pizzeria Calvino on Via Nunzio Nasi.

Pre-Covid, we had a nice dinner at Osteria I’ll Gallo e L’innamorata in Marsala. Believe it was a RS recommended restaurant. We met a couple from Wales there and chatted for quite a while after we finished dinner. Not that you asked, but we stayed at Hotel Carmine in that town and recommend it.

In Cefalù we ate at the restaurant in hotel Hotel Alberi del Paradiso where we stayed. It was a somewhat upscale restaurant, but very good.

For an inexpensive and fun meal in Trapani, I can recommend Pizzeria Calvino. Located in a former brothel, it is made up of several small dining spaces. Our RS tour guide recommended it and a dozen of us from the tour went there on a night where there was no official group dinner. We had a great time with lots of wine and excellent pizza and I think it came to 15 euros/couple including a tip!

In Palermo we ate at Bistrot 107 Via Camillo Cavour 99/101, Wonderful little place. The pasta dishes were fantastic. I recommend you make reservations if you decide to go.

In Trapani we found this restaurant to be excellent .Ristorante StraVento. Viale delle Sirene, 15, 91100
It is a family owned and run restaurant. My husband was in the mood for linguini in white clam sauce with clams. It was not on the menu but the hostess, who is also the owners daughter, said her father, the cook, can make it. He did and my husband was delighted. The food was delicious.
