Restaurant recommendation in Rome

First night in Rome is my birthday and I want pasta! Looking for a nice place with reasonable prices..would prefer less tourists and more locals...lol. One of the places I'm looking at is Hosteria Romana and they don't do online reservations...second choice Ai Tre Scalini but they don't have any reservations left on the day we arrive. Walking distance to Piazza di Santa Maria Maggiore would be nice and reservations made online. Thanks.

Noticed Ai Tre Scalini’s website shows an email address. Perhaps if you write tgem thefy could do a reservation. Also noticed that La Tavernelle is close and takes online bookings. Gets good reviews.

Thank you for your ideas. I did try emailing but no responses from either place...oh well, hope we can get in at one of them when we're there. Any other ideas?

Dear frog72,
I asked for restaurant suggestions near my hotel, which is close to Piazza di Santa Maria Maggiore:
Armando al Patheon, Ristaurante Emma and Elle Effa. I browsed this forum and many people suggest making reservations so you don't get turned away. Enjoy your birthday celebration.

Thanks for some recommendations. We’re arriving 7Oct and will be in the same area.

We made reservations for Armando Al Pantheon months ahead. It isn’t a large place so fills quickly.
Have you contacted your hotel’s concierge for help? We have had good luck doing that.
Have you tried calling the restaurants?

Watch Stanley Tucci series, also Bobby Flay & Giada. You'll get ideas aplenty.
