We've had cocktails at Ristorante Pulalli but didn't eat there. I wouldn't hesitate to do so, and if there are just two of you, see if you can reserve the tiny side balcony that seats just two with a nice view of Mt. Solaro and some of the sea. One warning: it's right beside the clock tower, and when it sounds the hours/half/hour/quarter hour, it's a little loud! Totally worth it, though: we were lucky to land that spot for our happy hour!

For Sorrento, we liked Ristorante O'Parrucchiano so much that we ended up going there twice during our 5-day stay. We experienced a lovely restaurant, good food, and welcoming service.

Enjoy!

I'd add one for Sorrento (it's actually about 20 minutes up the hill from Sorrento in Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi). It's a restaurant called Lo Stuzzichino, family-run and well worth the effort to get there!

hey hey amanda
everyone has different places for different reasons.
i was in venice for an overnighter with friends traveling from florence. had a bad knee, they went roaming around and i sat at ristorante da nino on grand canal across train station on outside table just people and boat watching.
ordered prosecco, small chacurterie platter and tiramisu. it was good had another piece and glass of prosecco. weather was fabulous, family with their parents and two kids from padua asked to share the table, sure.
had a great time visiting, they spoke english and was a day trip away from the winery they owned in padua. so nice to interact and we all enjoyed. never know who you'll meet

We were in Montepulciano last September and went to Osteria dell'Acquacheta. The steak was great, no frills type of restaurant and a cool atmosphere inside the restaurant with the owner of the restaurant chopping the steak for the customers.

Here are some other restaurants we went to that we liked:

La Pentolaccia in Montepulciano. For appetizer we had shredded zucchini with truffle and shredded Parmesan and the other appetizer was a vegetable roll in a puff pastry with tomato sauce. It was a different appetizer than usual but very good. A popular dish in the area is rosemary steak, which we got there, it was good.

Osteria del Borgo had excellent food, highly recommend booking a table on the terrace for the sunset.

@LynnElizabeth - I 100% agree. I visited with my mom a few years ago and we went 2X while there it was so good. I'm so excited to take my husband back again!

@Adam - I will definitely look into your other recommendations for Montepulciano, appreciate the feedback!

I have been trying to get a reservation for dinner in late August at Al Covo for weeks now. If you are successful let me know.

Bagni Del Fino in Sorrento a must.

@lorie - Al Covo was one I actually booked back in June. I just went back to my emails to confirm the reservation confirmation as you had me a little worried. We are going for lunch though on a Monday so that might be the difference. I heard their lunch tasting menu is fantastic for Venetian experience and reasonably priced so we are looking forward to that one! Will check out the Sorrento recommendation as you're now the 2nd or 3rd that has recommended that restaurant as a must! Thank you.
