Restaurant Near L'Accademia in Florence

Not sure how my original post got deleted but I'm replying to the comments.

Roberto, not sure if you were joking when you recommended McDonald's or Subway. Your replies are usually more thoughtful than that! If I wanted to eat in either of those establishments, I'd stay home. Or maybe you assumed I would prefer those.

Norma, guess I'm lucky. Big Mac or Quarter Pounder. I bet they taste better in Italy! Lol!

Thank you Jack from Wisconsin and you PM with your recommendation of Ristorante Leonardo Self-Service. It gets great reviews on Trip Advisor.

I thought you'd appreciate some good American fare after too much Italian food. I remember an American girl studying in Italy for a few months who was telling me that she was absolutely craving McDonald's. So if you find yourself in that predicament you can count on the golden arches to be available near the Accademia (and Subway is just next door to McD for the convenience of all US visitors).

If you don't think you will be tired of Italian food yet, I don't know the restaurants around the Accademia, but the Mercato Centrale is really not far. You can eat inside "da Nerbone" for a quick good lunch, or in the piazza behind at the Trattoria "Da Zaza'".

Ristorante Accademia is nearby, at Piazza San Marco 7.

Don't go to Mcky D in Italy. It's Horrid over there.

I'd rather be beaten by an Italian Nona than eat at McD's in Italy! LOL Roberto! I just ate at a corner cafe right across from the Accademia in Florence, and while it wasn't the Absolute Best food I had in Florence, it was better than McD's for sure! It was raining and we were starving. Otherwise, go to Mercado Centrale.

Closer to the Duomo but very good: Il Caminetto in via dello Studio, and Hostaria da Ganino in Piazza dei Cimatori. Il Caminetto is popular with business people during the day, da Ganino always fills up (probably the bistecca alla fiorentina and other specialties of the region). Il Caminetto has a little dining terrace outside, da Ganino has lots of outdoor seating in the piazza.

And now, for something completely different...

...a couple weeks ago, we had just left L'Accademia early afternoon and wanted a little more than a snack, but not a full sit-down lunch. And walking down Via dei Servi about two blocks away from the museum, we came upon Turkuaz.

Great, filling almost-foot-long falafel or shawarma-style wraps for 5 Euro. Turkish tea was awesome too. The place isn't much to much to look at, but it sure smelled good!
