My wife and I will be spending the first two weeks of February in Sicily (Catania, Sciacca and Palermo). After that, we will have ten days to spend as we like anywhere in Italy. We are looking for a place to relax before returning home and are looking for suggestions. Any suggestion should be peaceful, relatively flat (not too many steps or hills) and somewhat sunny. It can be anywhere in Italy, island or mainland. We speak Italian, will have transportation and welcome small community suggestions. We would like a place where we can slow down and mix with local people. Your help is much appreciated.

I'd find an Agriturismo in Sicily, and relax there for 10 days. I love to stay in Scopello, near the Natural Reserve of the Zingaro. It's in Sicily between Palermo and Trapani, near Castellammare del Golfo. Very relaxing. Ten days is a long time though. How about adding a few smaller islands? (Eolie, near Milazzo or Favignana near Trapani). In the main land, not too far from Sicily by car (after you cross with the Ferry) there is Tropea (sea resort in Calabria) or Maratea (in Basilicata, north of Tropea on the way to Naples). Enter the above spots in Google Images, look at the pictures and see what you like. For Agriturismo go to www.Agriturismo.net or Agriturismo.it (I prefer the .net site). Find one that feeds you (a lot).
February...sunny...Italy? Huh? Jan, Feb, and March can have some super rainy days in Sicily. Do like we did in December one year; pop over to the beaches of southern Portugal or Spain. We were wading in the surf. Check out using one of the lo-cost inter EU airlines (whichbudget.com) to fly into a South city in Portugal or Spain, and pick up a Rick book and do some reading about these areas.
