Residenza il Villino

I am looking for a hotel in Florence for a week. This hotel gave me a rate that is half what the others are. Is it a nice hotel?

Jump on it. I think of all RS suggestions in Florence, he gets the most recommendations.

Residenza Il Villino was one of the nicest places we stayed. It was clean, big, comfortable and air conditioned. Sergio and Elizabeth will treat you like family. Some previous reviewers on Tripadvisor commented about how it was located away from the center. I totally disagree. It was in a central location in the Unversity area so lots of college students and restaurants around the area. It was just around the corner from the Accademia where the David is located. It was also one of the cheapest places we stayed during our trip. Jump on it if at all possible!

Stay at Il Villino! It's my favorite place in Florence. The place is fabulous and the owners are wonderful. Book it right away.

We stayed there this past May - book it! Only about a 5 minute walk to David and maybe another 5 to the Duomo. Sergio was the best host we had in all of Italy. Nice rooms at a good price. He will even make your reservations to Academia and Uffizi for you.

My husband & I are staying at Residenza il Villino right now and we both highly recommend it. Sergio and his family are wonderful, he made reservations for us for Accademia & Uffizi and the place is extremely clean, we love the location, it is quiet, the price is very good.
My only complaint is that the room we were given is on the 1st floor overlooking the courtyard so couldnt open the windows, so would have preferred a 2nd or 3rd story room.
Good luck with wherever you decide to go.

Rick "missed the boat" on this one. Residenza Il Villino is exactly the kind of place that SHOULD be included in his Florence book.

Someone just informed me that the Residenza Il Villino is now in Rick's book. I'm glad to hear that it is now included.

I agree with everyone. We stayed at Il Villino for four nights in June and it was excellent. Sergio even drove us to the train station because there was a problem with the taxis the morning we were leaving.

I highly recommend the Residenze Il Villino. We choose it after reading about in Rick's guide and checking it out on tripadvisor.com. We stayed there for three nights in June 2008 and we loved it! Sergio and Elizabetta are friendly and offer great recommendations for restaurants. Their Residenza is immaculately clean and cheerful. Our room had a king size bed and was large enough to be very comfortable. It had a private bath which was an important amenity to us. We like bathroom privacy. The decor is beautifully Tuscan with lots of rough hewn tile, stained glass windows and wrought iron. The courtyard is restful with beautiful plantings. Breakfast is hearty and Sergio makes a fabulous cappucino. It was a bit of a walk from the Residenza to all the sights, BUT this makes it a great opportunity to explore all the wonderful cobblestone streets of Florence.

We stayed here in early June and it was a memorable experience. It was our first trip to Europe and we were a little apprehensive since no one in our family of four speaks Italian. Sergio and his wife Elisabetta could not do enough for us. They are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. The room was very spacious, and breakfast in the terrace area was a great way to start the day. Have a cappucino and one of the home-made croissants. Do not be afraid to ask Sergio for help. During our last night he referred us to a nearby restaurant, La pentola dell Oro Osteria. What a night to remember! Rick did not do il Villino justice in the '08 Guide.
