Reserving Vatican Tickets

Thanks to everyone who helped me decide if I should take my 4 year old to the Vatican. So, next question. I am just going to buy regular tickets - no guided tour. I am looking at the availability for February (we want to go on February 14) and am wondering why tickets are not available? I thought we could only purchase starting 60 days before our desired tour date, which would be today. This is what I see on the site.

You're in the right spot if you click through the Admission Tickets link. They show tickets for sale through February, but also with a significant number of dates blacked out, not currently for sale (which I can't explain). There are rarely any hard-and-fast rules for when things go on sale. It happens whenever the operator is ready, especially in Italy (or Vatican City).

They release the tickets about 60 days in advance. Right now tickets are available for the beginning of February. Just keep checking the site. They will release tickets for later dates as they get closer. Tickets for the 14th are now on sale.
