All right, so I followed everything on page 377 in Rick Steve's Italy 2009 about reserving for the Academia and Uffizi in Florence, but the website will not accept my credit card. Each time I try, it says that the transaction is cancelled.
What do I do?
What dates are you trying to reserve?
You can call - they have an English option. Just call in the morning US time. You can get cheap calling cards at Target and Walmart so it's only a few cents a minute to call Italy :)
Our hotel assisted us in making our reservations.

have your hotel/b&b make your reservations. we did this and had no problems ! good luck :):)
EJ ~ The most convenient way to make a reservation is through your hotel. I wanted the security of knowing I had the confirmation, so I phoned in my reservation.

Just tried to make a reservation on Uffizi site and ran into the same problem as you did. BTW I even registered with the site and still came up empty.

Just got off the phone(1am PDT) with Uffizi reservations and have secured my reservation number. The wait was about three minutes. I had to go this route as I am living in a B&B that I would have to call to ask them to make reservations. They have no email address. And I don't know if they will reserve tickets for me.
