Reserving a time at St. Marks Basilica

It is very difficult to know exactly when we will be there (within 15 minutes that the reservation allows). How strict are they on the time you arrive? If we reserve for 1:00-1:15 pm, how much room on either side of that time that our reservation is still valid?

It's Italy--depends on who's at the door-we arrived last week early and were waved right through. No idea what would happen if late, however, it was a mad house when we went on Saturday morning 25 July.
