Reserving a Specific Seat on Italio Train - how?

New forum poster here. Thank you for helping!

I am booking high speed train tickets for my family (Venice to Florence first). Trenitalia actually has a button for seat selection before you pay for the ticket. I can find nothing about choosing my own seat on Italo. I do not like the seats they auto selected for us (not together). Am I missing something? Or can I NOT choose a seat before paying? I don't want to pay & then find out the seat selection is not what we want....I'm buying non-refundable tickets.

Italo has a more convenient time for the train so that is why I would "prefer" that company.

Thank you!

When are you traveling and in what class? Are you quite sure they're not together? See this sample seating plan. The best seating is with a table in the middle, middle of each coach, and there's a bit of a disconnect between the numbers for those seats.

Are you sure the seats are not together? Did they show up on a seating map? Or are you going by the numbers?

I just bought tickets on the Italo site a few days ago. . When it shows you the tickets they selected for you, there is a button on the bottom of the page to change them. I don't remember what it says. Then for each ticket you are shown what you have now, and what is available. When a current seat is highlighted, you can click on the seat you want, and then save it. Or something like that. It was pretty easy.
I was surprised that the selection process started with seats they automatically selected for you, but it wasn't hard to make the change.

Travel in October.

The numbers are "together" (seats 3,4,5,6,7) but they are not all together side-by-side if I look at the plan on Seat 61 website.

And yes, I really want that 4-seat option with the table in between & the fifth person across the aisle/next to us.

So, I was trying everything to get it to work & it seems you need to choose "Prima" (1st class) & above to get that "change your seat" button to appear. Then I can see the empty seats & choose before paying. So it will cost us a bit more but worth it to be all together.

Thank you all for your help. I appreciate it!

If you purchase a group if tickets and the site doesn't select seats together, it means there aren't that many seats together

I'm not sure Seat61 has the map of all types of cars and trains run by Italo, it's a reputable source but it takes time to get all the info.

I'd just save money and ask other passengers to change seats, it's a train not a flight.
