Hello All,
We are leaving for our whirlwind trip through italy in 2 weeks. While in Florence we were hoping to visit the Boboli Gardens. I know that you need reservations for the Pitti Palace, however I am unsure of whether or not you need reservations to visit just the Boboli Gardens. Thanks in advance for any information on this!
No you don't need them for the garden. You buy the tickets at the ticket window and walk through the main doors of the Pitti Palace and up some stairs into the garden. But if you are on a whirlwind tour, it may not be worth it. The Boboli Gardens is a large bunch of green trees up a hillside. They are not unique. We love gardens and have books on famous gardens. However, this one just wasn't worth it.

Alison, I agree with Larry. The gardens are nice but definately not worth much time. I would only go if you have seen most everything else in Florence and have some time to kill.
The gardens aren't bad but not special and not worth paying to see. A better option is Piazella Michealangelo.
Alison,
I have to agree with the others, while nice they aren't WOW!
Though, before I went I had 2 people with architecture/engineer backgrounds who didnt know each other say adamantly...don't miss Boboli.
Buon Viaggio!
