Reservations

Heading to Venice, Florence, Rome and Sorento late September early October and have seen varying accounts of needing restaurant reservations in advance. Not necessarily looking for 3 star places. Any comments?

If there is a place you really want to eat, by all means reserve. Those cities will still be very busy at that time.

You will find restaurants that have empty tables but they may all be promised to those dining later. For example, you show up at 8pm and see lots of tables, but they are already reserved for 8:30 or 9:00. Also, reserving shows respect and gets you seated in a better location.
