I have sent a fax to the Vatican Museum seeking to reserve a time for an English tour for me, my wife and two children for sometime during June 18-22. I sent it on May 24th. What is the average response for a reservation request. I left a return fax number in the US. Any suggestions or an I just stressing. Graxie. RJ
The Vatican office usually doesn't respond to requests until a few days before. I've heard they only send confirmation faxes to numbers within Italy but I don't know if this is true. If your request has been denied there will be no communication as the office receives too many requests and cannot respond to all of them.
I faxed a tour request on April 17 and received a response on May 15 (fax sent back to Canada) for a May 18 tour, which I had forwarded to our hotel in Italy. We'd been in Italy for a couple of weeks and I had given up hope of a tour. A month seems to about the response time and they will reply to overseas requests if there is space available. If possible have somebody looking for your return fax and have them forward it to where you'll be.
I agree with Leal' experience. We heard from Vatican a day or two before our trip.
I never heard back (nor did my hotel in Rome), but we ended up getting in with a very minimal wait on a Friday afternoon.
Vatican returned fax to me in Wisconsin and it arrived the day before we left. Other posters here report similar last minute responses.
