How do I make a reservation to see David in Florence? I'll arrive at the train station on a Saturday at about 10:00 am and know it will be very busy. I only have one day in Florence, so I'd rather make a reservation and shorten the wait so I can see the most I can of the city.
Thanks!
Yes, you do need to make a reservation and do it as soon as you can. It is a small museum so you will need no more than two hours in the museum or maybe a little less time to see it all. Florence is a great city and easy to get around. You will be able to walk most everywhere. Have a great trip.
Luke, here's the website to buy tickets online. You can avoid the long lines with these tickets. http://www.florence-tickets.com/accademia-gallery-florence.html
That website is unfortunately not the official one. They want 50 euros for two tickets, adding a hefty agency fee. This is the official site, where the charge for 2 tickets with a timed reservation is 30 euros: http://www.uffizi.firenze.it/en/musei/?m=accademia It is a little frustrating to use, and you have to wait for things to load. I used it in Italian to get to the 30 euro price. Hopefully it works as well in English if you don't undertand Italian. Actually, when we went I just called for reservations. It was easier than gettin gthe online tickets. They gave us a confirmation code and we paid cash when we arrived.
You absolutely have to have reservation or spend half a day in line. An hour is pushing it to see David. There are a couple of little side areas and the four soldiers but unless you are just going to stand there and marvel at David, an hour should do it. If you know you are going to be there at 10, then try for a 11 am reservation.
Lola is correct. I was just too fast with my research. In fact, I just purchased two tickets for my wife and daughter on the official website.
