I am traveling to Rome with my two teenager daughters and would like to take them by train to Florence to visit the Academia. I have not been there by train before and would like to know how far is the train station from the area of the Academia. Also I would like to know how to make reservations for the Academia. I've read that the number RS has in his book is not the best one to call. My hotel will be in Rome and I don't think they would make the reservation for me. Thanks.
About 15 minute walk. The train station is very central to Florence. As for reservations, I would ask you Rome hotel. Cannot hurt. Most they can say is no. We had our hotel in Florence make the reservation and it was simply. For what I have seen in the other postings, calling direct seems to be a big problem. Not sure any number is best.
I just made reservations for bothfor next week. It was very difficult to get through (busy) but I finally did it around 10:45 EST.
001-39-055-294-883 It is the direct service.
Definitely ask your hotel in Rome to make the reservation. After all - you "ARE" a paying customer.
I made reservations for the Uffizi and the Accademia by calling Firenze Musei at 055-294883. It was very quick they were professional and spoke english very well.
Thanks to all that have replied so soon. Great info. I will start calling early in the morning. Thanks again, Ivette
