We're thinking of staying at the Hotel Ca' dei Dogi near St Mark's square in Venice . Would appreciate any information you may have about the hotel--location, rooms, etc. Thanks!
have you read the reviews?

Looks positively perfect to me...
Oh, good--- no great seismic shift :-)
Rooms are small, tight including staircase, but staff is friendly and helpful. we stayed there last spring for 5 nights. We had the room with the Jacuzzi tub, and bed with curved wooden legs. A larger room for the place but still small. I liked the place and people, excellent coffee and breakfast.. Didn't like the tighter feel, space wise. Convenient part of town. Because its off a less traveled walkway(alleyway) its quiet. Quick to St Marks. Quick to the vaporetto stop.
The narrow walkway closest to its entrance taking you toward the water if you turned right, when going the other directon away from the water will take you past a restaurant further down on the right. AVOID! Go one alley farther over for some better options. The gal working there the day we arrived called a nearby restaurant and booked dinner for us that night. food was great and a bit expensve but we liked the place, can't recall the name. Having said all that, we are returning but staying in the Dorsudoro area. I wouldn't stay at the de dogi again after spending time the other side of the canal, where its got a more relaxed vibe, spacious, brighter cleaner feel. Nicer area.
The other thing I meant to include, the wide sidewalk adjacent to the water, which you will use after exitng the alley to this hotel, that runs over to St Marks, can't recall its name, but its mobbed with people. I mean crowded to the point of being difficult. Not bad early morning and at night.
