Renting an Apartnent in Rome and Food Shopping

Hi! This is my first post here and it's about my first trip abroad. Naturally, I have some questions. I am in a wheelchair, and I am trying to do this trip as cheaply as possible. I have finally found an apartment in Rome that will work accessibility-wise. It's in Piazza di San Giovanni in Laterano. What kind of area is that? Is it a decent area in which to rent or is it an area that we should stay away from?

My next question is in regard to food shopping. Three of us will be going, and I would like to cook for breakfast and dinner, eating out only at lunch. Where are the good markets near the apartment? Also, how much should I budget for buying food for three for one week?

The best answer to this question requires a detailed knowledge of the area in question.

Hopefully someone here knows and will reply.

But I'd suggest you also

go here where you can ask the question of residents
