Renting a GPS

Is it possible to rent a portable GPS for getting around in Rome and Florence?

We are renting a GPS from Autoeurope.com. They mailed it to us and we mail it back. It is not for pedestrian use if that is what you need. I asked for that but they don't have it. This one has a one half hour battery life out of the car, so technically that is all we would get walking the city. I just googled rental GPS italy and had a lot to choose from. Good luck.

Thank you for the tip, Lisa. We were wanting one for pedestrian use, so I'll check around.

The GPS systems you can buy in the states have optional pre loaded maps of Europe. I just used a Garmin 370 on a trip and it orked very well. In the long run you may find it beneficial to own it - it can be set for car, truck or walking in a city as well

My TomTom 920 has car, bike and walk modes. Just be sure to reset the car mode so you don't go the wrong way down a one-way street.
