I was told by the agent at FCO that a place called Prestige Rent a Car would rent to us without a credit card, but when I look for them online I can't seem to find the right link. Anyone know of anybody else or the link?

If you find such a place, it's going to have complications (assuming you intend to use a debit card): credit check for which you will be charged and will show up as an inquiry in your credit history unknown hold on a large sum of bucks from your checking account - - probably ranging from five hundred bucks to infinity higher daily rate since you're in Italy and need the cdw, that's going to be more money out of the checking account which will effectively double what the daily rate first appears to be Absent any kind of plastic, it may be impossible, short of forking over a cash deposit probably big enough to buy the car.

Daniela, You might want to contact Auto Europe and see if they can help you. They are based in Maine. I have used them for all my European car rents, paying for the car at the time I make the reservation. You can cancel any time before you need to pick up the car. They have an 800 number and have good customer service. Good luck! You sure had good luck the other day. Film at 11:00... ;-)

According to Auto Europe, no one in Rome will rent a car with out a credit card. :(
