Renting a Car - Amantea, Calabria

We will be traveling from Capri to Amantea with a rather large group and will be needing 2 rental cars. Is there anywhere to rent in Amantea or close-by? Or will we have to rent in Napoli and drive down?

Since you will probably be returning from Capri to the mainland at some port, there should be some car rental locations nearby. Two ports that come to mind are Sorrento and Salerno. Try autoeurope.com and europcar.com for rental choices. They are both brokers and use the big car companies. We have used both many times and they are reliable. You could also check them on tripadvisor.com for client reviews of each agency. We have driven through Calabria many times, but never through Amantea. My family comes from the more southern Sant' Eufemia Lamezia region and we have been there many times. Buon viaggio,

We were in Tropea last summer and it is beautiful. Generally, we stay in Nicastro at Hotel Savant, which is a nice and friendly hotel. You might want to think about a day trip to Le Castella in Capo Rizzutto. It is a 10th century Norman castle that has been restored. There are plenty of places to eat around it and it makes for a nice excursion. There is a shopping mall not too far from Nicastro called Due Marti complete with a McDonald's. Shopping malls are called centro commerciale. A little farther south in Reggio Calabria you will find the Museo Della Stao and the Riacci Warriors. They are Greek statues made from bronze and had been under water for 1500 years. My favorite pizzeria in the whole world is called Pizzeria Il Gambero da Zi Pino on SS18 in Falerna Marina. The nearby Cafe Vittoria serves world class stracchiatella gelato (chocolate chip). The flea market across the street is interesting, as well. Buon viaggio,
