Has anyone use the "rental in rome" website to book accomodations?
I see some reasonable prices but would like to hear from people's experiences. Pluses and minuses. Is there a way to contact the apartment's owner directly to avoid a commission or how does the system work?

We've booked with them twice, and they act as the owners' agents, so you deal with them, not the owner. No way that I could see to contact the owner directly. No major complaints, except the person there to greet us from the agency had no idea as to the local surroundings...grocery stores, etc.

We used Rental in Rome and found them to be professional. RiR staff are agents that represent apartment owners, so we didn't meet the owner until we arrived in Rome. We found the company to be honest and thorough and would use them again.

I have not used this company but they get very mixed reviews on other forums. Do your homework and really check out this company before you use them. You can look at the forums on TripAdvisor and Virtualtourist.com to find reviews of them.

Thanks for your replies. I'll contact them online. They have a live help link on their website. Prices in the off season are attractive for some of those appartments. Better than what we paid for a hotel room last year, but them again breakfast was included.
