We will be flying into Lamezia Airport and would like to rent a car at the airport or in the area. There are 4 adults in our group leaving in May. Any suggestions on renting a car/van that 4 people can fit in with small suitcases?

I'd look for a small SUV. I don't think you'll need a van.

Just a warning: my family and I went to Calabria at the beginning of May some years ago, and it was freezing cold, with snow on the mountains, which we hadn’t expected. We also had problems finding places to stay and eat - it felt like Calabria wasn’t open for tourists in early May, so I hope you have better luck.

On our recent trip to Scotland we had a standard SUV for 4 adults. It was a Hyundai Tucson and we barely had enough room for luggage. One size larger would have been better to fit luggage.

SUVs are often terrible when it comes to boot space, an estate car is usually a better option.

I generally use AutoEurope, a broker, and a 'station wagon' or a 'family size' car should do.
Vans cost too much money to rent. You'd be better off with two economy cars at that point.
