Renting a car in Florence to visit area before heading to Cinque Terre. Anyone know if we can drop off in Genoa as we leave Italy and if it will be prohibitively expensive? Also looking for opinions about which rental agency to use...
Usually,in Italy, the one way drop fee is minimal or non-existent
The one time I needed a car, I got it from Hertz. Picked up in Naples, dropped in Milan-- no extra fee.
No extra fee.
If you are going toward Nice in France and rent from Hertz, I think Hertz has now an office in Sanremo. Check.
If I read your itinerary correctly, why would you keep the rental car when visiting the Cinque Terre? Drop it off in La Spezia and then train to Genoa after. In La Spezia, Avis is closest to the train station, Hertz and Europcar a short taxi ride away.
