Rental car/train interface, Orvieto/Volterra/Lakes/Milan Linate

We plan to take a train from Naples to somewhere near Orvieto and pick up a rental car at the train station or very nearby. Any suggestions on train station/car rental agency in this area? We haven't picked a car company yet. Then we need help in getting rid of the car at the back end of the trip. Our last Tuscan stay is Volterra before going to Bellagio for 3 days and then the last night in Milan (flying out early next day from Linate). I've read that a car is a nuisance in Lake area, so I'm thinking we can take the train there (from somewhere near Volterra?) and a train from the Lakes to Milan Centrale, and then shuttle to airport on last day. Where can we turn in rental car after Volterra and be able to get a train to the Lakes? I can't figure out on the trenitalia site how to find which train station is nearest Volterra and where that may be in relation to car rental drop-off.
Thanks for the help.

There is a Hertz facility adjacent to the Orvieto train station. Check both Hertz and AutoEurope.com for the cheapest rate at the same location. After you visit Volterra, just drop the car at 53 Via del Sansovino in Florence. Hertz is about 1 1/2 miles North of the Florence train station (across the river.) Then, catch the train out of Florence. You can see where the Hertz location is on Mapquest.com.

As the previous poster noted, there is a rental car agency at the train station in Orvieto. Very convenient to the autostrada. When you call AutoEurope, ask them what is the closest agency to Volterra to return the car. Otherwise, I would return the car to the Florence airport. When you return a car to an airport, you do not incur a surcharge, only when you pick up a car at the airport. In returning it to a city location, you are running the risk of entering a part of the city that is restricted, commonly referred to a ZTL zone. You don't want to get a ticket a year later. It is also easier to return to an airport. Have fun on your trip!
