rental car -Should we pick it up in Orvieto or Rome?

We are leaving from Rome on June 4 and we will fly out of Florence the next week. Is it easier to pick the car up at the airport in Rome or take the train to Orvieto?
Do you have any recommendations on which car rental agency to use? thanks

Get it at the Rome airport and drop it either at the train station or airport in Florence. I use expedia.co.uk to book a rental car as I have found they have the best rates, though I'm sure others will disagree. One caveat: would avoid Sixt in Italy; had a (*&%) fight with them when I returned the car on a Sunday, and they tried to double charge me for the VAT. Took 6 months' to resolve, but I won.

Check rates online for AutoEurope and Kemwel which are rental car brokers. I would pick up your car in Orvieto at the train station. It's an easy drive to the autostrada. You might even want to spend a few hours, or overnight, in Orvieto. It's a beautiful, quaint hilltown.

Last month we flew into Rome, took the train to Orvieto, and picked up our car in Orvieto. We then drove around to several beautiful hill towns and several days later dropped our car in Chiusi. From Chiusi we took the train to Florence. There is a Hertz rental agency near the train stations of both of these towns. This worked great for us! By the way, it really helps to have GPS along with accurate addresses of places you want to stay or visit. Happy travels!
