Rental car pickup from Termini station or Villa Borghese area?

Because we are leaving Rome on a Sunday heading north to Tuscany, our rental car pickup options are very limited. We would rather not have to make the trip to the airport and are trying to decide which option for car pick-up would be the best.
To those of you who have braved the traffic in Rome, which is the easiest to navigate to get to the "ring road" and on to the Autostrada for our journey to Panzano? We will be staying in an apartment in the Jewish Ghetto so will have to taxi to either place for the pickup.

I have been told that traffic is lighter on a Sunday, so that may make our navigation easier.

Thanks.........Leslie

Leslie,
On our last trip to Rome we were staying in town, and had to leave on a Sunday. Villa Borghese was an easy bus trip for us, (you actually take the bus to the Spanish Steps, get out, find the underground entrance, then take the escalator up to the Villa B parking/rental area.) It was easy to get to the freeways. They gave you some simple directions, and off you went.

I have also heard that Termini is a piece of cake.

But....... I don't leave home without my GPS, and no longer do Europe withpout it (and a small map and compass as backup.)

BTW, Orvieto is a great option, if you don't want to deal with driving in Rome. But traffic is light on Sunday. Make sure you watch for ZTL's!

This time we are flying into Rome, picking up our car at the airport, and heading directly to Tuscany/Umbria. We usually never pick up a car at the airport, but the cost was neglible, since it was spread over two weeks.

Have a great trip!

The rental car locations are not open on Sunday's at Orvieto or Chuisi. At least, that I could find.

The people that have responded in other forums seem to think that the Villa Borghese is a good choice for pickup. It has also been mentioned that the ZTL's are not in effect on Sunday. So the Villa Borghese may be the way to go.

Thank you to those here who have responded.
