Which parking lot, on the mainland should we park in, to catch the Vaporetto to Venice? We will have two large suitcases so we'd like the parking lot to be relatively close to the Vaporetto dock.

Not on the mainland, but at Piazzale Roma on the island after the causeway. Pay attention to the speed limit as there are multiple radar traps and there is no fudge factor for going over the limit. Vaporettos are right there.

Driving in Venice not recommended, the streets are always flooded. Just follow the trains along the causeway and when it ends, you park and now you're in Venice.
