We have rented a car for our travels in Europe. We are planning on spending a few days in Rome. Does anyone know where we could park the car outside of Rome, and take the train in?
We do not want to return the car and then rent it again. We are flying in and out of Frankfurt. That is what we always do when we fly to Europe, just this time we want to stay in Rome for a few nights, rather then go in and out of Rome per train. Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance for the suggestions.
Look for a hotel or apartment near a Metro stop outside the ZTL that facilitates parking nearby. On Booking.com parking is one of the search filters.
I don't know if it is still true, but years ago when we went to Italy some people were parking in the big free lot at the Orvieto train station and taking the train into Rome. You would have to stay a few days to make it pay but it surely saves a lot of hassle. Also Orvieto is a neat place to spent a night too.

Using any hotel search website look for a hotel with parking in the Prati district (Vatican Area). Just leave the car at the hotel while you visit on foot or transit.
